Bootleg booze and cigarettes seized in Dublin raids
More than 20,000 cigarettes and 68 bottles of bootleg booze have been seized by customs officers.
Black market tobacco and vodka was recovered during searches of a number of premises in the Dublin area on the back of an intelligence-led operation.
The Revenue said the raids targeted the illegal sale and distribution of contraband cigarettes in the capital and its officers were backed up by gardai.
The haul included 23,420 cigarettes with brands such as Mayfair, Dorchester, Marlboro Gold, MG, Winston, Route 66, Jim and 821 and another 6.6 kilos of tobacco.
Revenue said the vodka was suspected of being counterfeit.
It said the goods would have been worth more than 18,000 euro on shop shelves and represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of about 14,000 euro.
Officials also said investigations were continuing.
