Boy killed in driveway car crash

A two-year-old boy has died in a suspected accident in the driveway of his home.

The youngster was outside the house in Derrydonnell North, Oranmore, Co Galway yesterday evening when he was struck by a car.

Gardai said the child was rushed to University Hospital Galway where he was pronounced dead.

It is understood a parent of the boy had been driving the car at the driveway.

The accident happened at 7.15pm yesterday.

Gardai said a forensic collision investigation team would examine the scene of the accident but it is understood the incident is being treated as a tragedy and no-one is being sought in connection with it.
