A bus was set on fire outside three business premises which were once part of the Quinn Group.

The arson attack took place at about 5am this morning when the coach was parked across the entrance to three buildings which were part of the packaging division at Rakeelan near Ballyconnell, Co Cavan.

No damage was caused to the properties, gardai said, and no one was injured.

The arson attempt follows a similar incident in December when a stolen oil tanker was rammed into a business that was once part of the Quinn Group and set on fire.

That incident targeted the headquarters of the Aventas Group, formerly the base for the empire run by one-time billionaire Sean Quinn, in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh.

In August 2011, a car outside the home of businessman Paul O'Brien was set on fire after he was appointed chief executive to the Quinn Group by receivers.
