Daniel O'Donnell reveals wife Majella is winning battle with cancer
Less than three weeks ago Daniel O'Donnell shocked fans when he revealed his wife was battling cancer and urged them to pray for her.
Now the Donegal singer's future is looking much brighter after he revealed Majella's cancer has "gone".
The star's wife underwent treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer. But Daniel said his wife of 11 years is making a remarkable recovery.
"Thank God with early intervention and surgery the cancer is gone now and it is a matter of further treatment," he said.
Last month the internationally renowned entertainer revealed Majella's diagnosis on his website.
Appealing for fans' prayers rather than cards and letters, the 51-year-old said the cancer had been detected in the early stages and the couple were hopeful of a good recovery.
Speaking to the Donegal Democrat yesterday, he said: "It can be beaten and I thank God that Majella is on the road to recovery."
O'Donnell revealed his joy that Majella (53) was "going to be fine".
"It's just so important to me that we will be together for a long, long time – the rest of our lives," he said.
Majella's diagnosis urged the singing star to speak out about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
"There is hope and help for everybody and all I can say to people, both men and women, is to have regular check-ups – these can be the difference between life and death," he added.
