Murdered garda Tony Golden has started his final journey home.

Garda Golden's body was brought past the Church of St Oliver Plunkett this afternoon.

Earlier the State funeral of murdered Garda Tony Golden has been arranged.

The requiem mass will take place at 12 noon on Thursday at the Church of St Oliver Plunkett in Blackrock, Co Louth.

Garda Chaplain Fr Joe Kennedy said the life of Garda Golden will be celebrated despite the tragic circumstances of his death.

Garda Golden was remembered by Garda colleagues at a prayer service in Dundalk today as a big, gentle, quiet and kind man who did his job without fuss and who was a devoted father to his three young children and husband to wife Nicola

Teh garda's body will repose at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Garda Golden's family have also requested that any donations, if desired, to the North Louth Hospice and Homecare Foundation, The Ramparts, Dundalk, Co. Louth or on www.mycharity.ie.
