Gardai arrest man over Dublin shooting incident

A man in his forties has been arrested after a shooting incident in Dublin.

Gardai said the man left the property at Deerpark Manor in Tallaght unarmed following contact with specialist Garda negotiators.

He has been taken to Tallaght garda station, where he is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Gardai armed response units had been called to reports of a man who had barricaded himself into an apartment.

There were unconfirmed reports that up to 20 shots were fired indiscriminately during the incident, which began in the early hours of Sunday.

A Garda spokesman said the incident had now concluded.
