There was traffic chaos in the Santry area of Dublin on Monday after a giant inflatable Minion landed on Old Swords Road.

Gardai were called to the scene at approximately 3pm where they were helped by passers-by to let the air out of the giant inflatable creature, believed to be '40-foot' high.

Erin Van Londen alerted the gardai to the incident and documented the event on her Facebook page.

"The minion was captured and brought to the station," she joked.

"It was tied up beside McDonald's in front of the carnival. But then it made its way down as far as Santry industrial estate entrance."

The 40ft inflatable has reportedly been stationed at a funfair. It is believed it ended up on the road due to “very strong” winds.
