Judge tells Westlife's Kian Egan 'raise wall up' to keep fans at bay
Workmen have started to build a new wall around the home of former Westlife singer Kian Egan, in a bid to ward off nosey fans.
Bricklayers moved into the area around his seaside house yesterday after the star won a three-year legal battle.
Egan (33) is currently in Australia taking part in ITV's 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here'.
He has fiercely defended his right to privacy at his home in Strandhill, Co Sligo, complaining that fans often drive there in a bid to get a glimpse of him, his actress wife Jodi Albert and their 23-month-old son Koa.
He added a 70cm fence on top of a 1.2metre wall but was initially told by Sligo County Council to remove the fence.
However, that decision has now been reversed. One resident of Strandhill had objected to the reversal of the Sligo council decision but An Bord Pleanala has now excluded the objection, saying it was lodged too late.
The couple had erected the wooden fence for a temporary period of two years, in order to facilitate privacy until existing landscaping and foliage matured.
Workers started removing the fence yesterday and began replacing it with a brick wall.
