The Irish former masseuse of disgraced American cyclist Lance Armstrong has denied that she spoke out about his drug use to bring him down.

Dublin native Emma O'Reilly (42) said that instead, her main motivation for going public "was about cleaning up cycling".

Ms O'Reilly worked with Armstrong's United States Postal team but left following a dispute with the cyclist. She originally attempted to expose Armstrong as a cheat back in 2003 -- but was sued for libel.

Ms O'Reilly has alleged that she worked as a "drug runner" for the team.

"It was never about bringing Lance down, it was about cleaning up cycling," she said about her decision to speak out.

Ms O'Reilly was speaking on RTE's 'The Craig Doyle Show'.
