Gardai are investigating after a man was discovered with 'apparent gunshot wounds' at a house in Dublin this morning.

The 23-year-old was discovered at a house at Old Tower Crescent in Clondalkin, Dublin shortly before 6am, gardai confirmed to Independent.ie.

Gardai and ambulance crews attended the scene.

The young man was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was transferred to James Connolly Hospital.

His injuries are described as non life-threatening.

Gardai are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

There have been no arrests made and the scene has been preserved for investigation.

The incident is the capital's latest gun attack in 2016, after two unrelated shootings claimed the lives of David Byrne (34) and Eddie Hutch Snr (59) in recent weeks.
