Man arrested after woman threatened with knife in car-jacking

A man has been arrested after a woman was threatened with a knife in a car-jacking.

Gardai said the car was stolen when the woman stopped to help a man at a roadside in the village of Grenagh, Co Cork, at about 7am.

The woman was not physically injured in the incident.

Gardai said the man made off in her car , a dark coloured saloon, in the direction of Mallow following the car-jacking.

The vehicle was discovered by officers at about 10am in a ditch on a road near Bweeng and a man in his early 20s was arrested a short distance away.

He was taken to Gurranbraher Garda Station where he is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
