Man arrested over stabbing death

Detectives investigating a murder at a city centre flat have arrested a man.

The 32-year-old is being questioned about the death of Martin Purcell, who was found stabbed to death in Limerick city on Friday.

Gardai arrested the man on Sunday afternoon in the city.

He is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Henry Street Garda station.

Mr Purcell's body was discovered at his flat on Wickham Street on Friday morning.

A post mortem investigation confirmed he died after being stabbed a number of times.
