Man dies after Co Clare stabbing

A man has died after being stabbed at a house.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident, which happened at Sandfield Mews in Ennis, Co Clare at around 1am on Tuesday.

The victim was being taken to Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick by ambulance and died en route.

A second man, aged 39, was found a short time later near the scene suffering from injuries, which were not thought to be life threatening.

Gardai believe this man was involved in the incident at the house.

The scene has been preserved for a Garda technical examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.

The three suspects were being held at Ennis and Shannon Garda stations under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai have also appealed for witnesses.
