Man dies after Navan knife attack

A man has died after suffering slash and stab wounds in an attack in a housing estate.

Christopher Nevin, 27, was set upon by several men on Tailtean Road in Navan, Co Meath, at 2.15pm on Thursday and was left fighting for his life.

The gang behind the attack fled the scene in a silver car towards the town centre, gardai said.

Mr Nevin was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda suffering severe wounds and died on Friday afternoon despite emergency surgery.

The attack has been linked to an ongoing feud.

Gardai said a post-mortem examination to establish cause of death will take place at the hospital, and detectives appealed for anyone who was in the vicinity of Winetown or on the road where the attack took place to come forward.
