Man fights for life after assault

A man is fighting for his life after being assaulted in Dublin.

The victim, in his mid-40s, is believed to have been struck during an incident in Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore at around 9.25pm on Thursday.

He was taken by ambulance to nearby St James Hospital, where he was said to be in a critical condition.

Investigating gardai have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact them at Kilmainham Garda Station.
