Man freed in missing woman probe
Detectives investigating the disappearance of a woman more than 11 years ago have released a man without charge.
Sandra Collins vanished in her home village of Killala in Co Mayo on December 4 2000.
A man in his 40s was arrested on Tuesday in the Ballina area and questioned at Ballina garda station under Section 4 of the Offences Against The State Act 1984.
A Garda spokesman said a file will be prepared and forwarded to the director of public prosecutions.
Ms Collins was 29 when she vanished. She had left her aunt's house, where she lived and who she cared for, to go to the local shop and bought some groceries.
She was last seen at about 11.15pm, more than three hours later, at the local takeaway, The Country Kitchen.
The missing woman is described as 5ft in height with a small, slim build, and short brown hair with red highlights.
When last seen, she was wearing black trousers, a maroon polo neck jumper, a beige sleeveless jacket with a hood and black boots.
Four days later, on December 8, her fleece was found on the pier in Killala with a half-pound of sausages that Ms Collins had bought in the shop still in the pocket.
