Man held after body found in house

A man has been arrested after a body was found in a house.

Gardai said the dead man, believed to have been in his 30s or 40s, was found in the property at Barrack Hill in Limerick shortly after 5.30am.

Officers were responding to a call about an incident at the house when they discovered the dead man.

The body was expected to remain at the scene for several hours with preliminary examinations to be carried out by the State Pathologist's office and forensic officers from the Garda Technical Bureau.

A man in his 50s was detained at the scene and taken to Roxboro Road Garda station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

It is understood the d ead man suffered a stab wound in a disturbance in the house.

He was originally from eastern Europe.
