Man held after 'bottle attack' on garda at north Dublin car blaze

A man has been arrested over a bottle attack on a garda responding to a car blaze.

The alleged incident happened at New Campbell's Bridge in Cabra, north Dublin, at around 5.30am on Tuesday.

One of a number of gardai alerted to a car that was on fire at the scene was attacked by a man in his 30s.

Gardai said the officer was assaulted with what is believed to be a bottle.

The victim was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he received a number of stitches to his leg. He has since been discharged.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident.

The suspect is being questioned at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A Garda spokesman said: "Investigations are continuing."
