Man held after gun seized in raid

A man has been arrested following the seizure of a gun during a raid.

The search took place at Clarina Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, in Limerick at about 8pm last night.

The 39-year-old is being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939. He can be held for up to three days.

Gardai R oxboro Road station were supported by members from the divisional drug unit and the dog unit during the operation.

A Garda spokesman said the firearm is being technically examined.
