Man held over jogger sex assault

A 31-year-old man has been arrested over the sexual assault of a woman with special needs while she was out jogging.

The man was detained in Dublin city centre and taken in for questioning at Kevin Street Garda Station.

The woman, in her mid-20s, was attacked between 4pm and 5pm last Wednesday after going walking and jogging with her mother in the South Circular Road area of the city and the pair became separated.

The woman reportedly arrived home after her mother in a very distressed state.

Gardai believe the woman was sexually assaulted after being approached on a road in the area and taken to a nearby property.

The man is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
