Man in 'critical condition' after being hit by rollercoaster part in Cork
A carnival worker has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being struck by part of a rollercoaster this morning.
Independent.ie has learned that the man, who is in his 30s, was constructing the amusement ride in Cork city when a piece fell and struck him.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Pearse Road and the man was taken by ambulance to hospital.
Sources said he was in a critical condition.
A spokesman for the Health and Safety Authority confirmed that they were contacted about the incident shortly before 10am.
"We have been notified and inspectors have been sent to the scene," he added.
