Man injured in shooting

A man has been injured following a shooting in Drogheda.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was shot in the leg in the Donore Road area of the town earlier this evening.

It is understood his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the incident.

Gardai said the victim had made his way to a nearby shop to raise the alarm following the shooting, which happened at around 9.30pm.

He was rushed in an ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was described as being in a stable condition.

The scene of the incident, which is near a local bus station, has been preserved for a technical examination and gardai have appealed for witnesses.
