Gardai are investigating a suspected knife attack

A man was stabbed to death and a woman injured in a suspected knife attack at a house.

Gardai said the dead man, aged 30, was discovered in The Grove area, Pallasgreen, Co Limerick, shortly after 11pm last night.

The injured woman, aged 34, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with an apparent stab wound but her injuries are described as non-life threatening.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body remains at the house which has been sealed off ahead of preliminary examinations by staff from the State Pathologist's office.

Two men, aged 20 and 32, were arrested in connection with the attack and taken in for questioning at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda stations under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardai said they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death but appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
