Man missing for weeks found asleep in woods
A man who was reported missing over a fortnight ago after he went to visit relatives has been found safe and well in a wood.
Thomas O'Sullivan (57), who has been living in London for 40 years but is originally from Newcastle West, Co Limerick, had been visiting relatives in the west Limerick/north Kerry region when he went missing on August 14.
He was found by members of Abbeyfeale Search and Rescue Club in Ballyseedy Woods on the outskirts of Tralee on Saturday afternoon.
Suffering from dehydration, Mr O'Sullivan was taken to Tralee General Hospital to recover from his ordeal, but it is understood that he has no injuries.
Limerick County Councillor Michael Collins, who was involved in the search said: "Tom was dehydrated and disorientated, but is in good and safe hands now in Tralee hospital."
"Myself and John Murphy from the search group were involved in a low-key search along a riverbank in the woods with four groups of two people to each group.
"We were only about 10 minutes into Saturday's search and John said 'come here quickly', and there was Tom asleep in the undergrowth and curled up in a ball," Mr Collins said.
"He was fine, a bit tired after everything, but his family are absolutely ecstatic and delighted to have him back," he added.
