Man released in An Post theft case
An employee of An Post arrested in connection with the theft of payment cards from the Dublin postal system has been released without charge.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on Friday following a fraud squad swoop in the Crumlin area.
Several items believed to have been stolen, including post, were found in the search and the man was arrested at the scene.
Gardai investigating the interception, theft and unauthorised use of payment cards from the postal system quizzed the suspect at Terenure Garda station where he was held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following the man's release.
The search in Crumlin was part of a joint operation by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and An Post that was carried out on Thursday and Friday.
