Medical company Ortec to create up to 110 jobs in Co Limerick
Up to 110 jobs are to be created by a US medical company in Co Limerick.
Ortec said the skilled engineering and science roles will be based at its new European headquarters in Newcastle West.
The company makes materials for use in medical devices and pharmaceuticals. It said the jobs will be created "over the next several years once the plant is operational".
Christopher Brotherton, senior vice president at Ortec, said they were excited about the move to Newcastle West.
"This is our first investment outside of the US, and we are pleased to be doing it in Ireland," he added.
Founded in 1980, Ortec is headquartered in Easley, South Carolina.
It will start its Irish manufacturing operation in a leased building at Newcastle West Business Park.
The company said it then plans to double capacity at the facility in the coming months subject to planning permission.
