Motorcyclist dies in road crash

A 50-year-old man has died after a road crash involving two motorcycles and a car in Co Wicklow.

The victim was driving one of the bikes involved in the collision on the R755 at Ballinastoe near Roundwood at around 1.50pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other bike and the driver of the car were also injured. They have been taken to hospital for treatment but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The dead man's body has been removed to St Columcille's Hospital for a post mortem examination .

The road has been closed, diversions are in place and forensic collision investigators are at the scene.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

In a separate fatal incident, another man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding hit a wall in Co Cork this evening.

The collision occurred on the Cork to Macroom Road (N22) in an area known as Garryhesta at around 5.15pm.

Gardai said no one else was involved in the crash.
