On the run sex fiend Lorcan Halton bailed in Republic of Ireland
A registered sex offender who failed to appear to face a court case in Scotland before boarding a ferry to Belfast has been released on bail.
Lorcan Halton appeared before a court in Co Cavan in the Republic yesterday after a police appeal for information on his whereabouts.
The defendant was last seen in Scotland on January 4 as he was boarding a ferry to Belfast at Cairnryan.
Halton (46), from Glasgow but with an address at Corfree, Lough Gowna, Co Cavan, appeared before Judge Sean McBride at Cavan District yesterday where he was released on continuing bail of €150.
He will reappear in court on May 1 at a sitting of Carrickmacross District Court in neighbouring Co Monaghan.
Halton is charged with on April 2, 2014 failing to notify Gardai of his name, names used by him, address and date of birth as required under the Sex offender's Act 2001.
The defendant sat quietly in the body of the court as he awaited his case to be heard.
He wore a black anorak, striped jumper, black jeans and brown shoes.
