A motorist was killed and five other people were injured when a car crashed into a ditch.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the incident on the Dunshaughlin to Dunboyne road (R147) in Co Meath, which happened at 12.30am.

A 21-year-old man died and three men and two women who were also in the car were injured.
