Parish gets ready to bury slain student Karen Buckley
A tiny farming community is preparing for a massive funeral as it vows to support the heartbroken family of slain nursing student Karen Buckley (24).
It is understood that it will be at least another week before her body is released by the Scottish authorities.
Parish priest of Mourneabbey in Cork, Fr Joe O'Keeffe, said the community would "not be found wanting" in terms of solidarity for Karen's parents and brothers.
Fr O'Keeffe paid tribute to the Glasgow community for its support of the Buckleys. "Uppermost in the minds of her family and the parish community is to get Karen back home," he said.
A 21-year-old man has appeared in court accused of her murder.
