Pensioner killed in house fire

A woman in her 70s has died in a house fire.

Gardai said the blaze broke out at about 1am in the home at Ballyboes, Creeslough, Co Donegal.

The pensioner lived alone.

Emergency services responded to a call and recovered the dead woman's body inside the house.

The scene of the fire will undergo a Garda technical examination to determine the cause and investigations are continuing.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who were in the area around the time, to come forward.
