A Garda hunt is underway in Dublin for man armed with a shotgun and handgun.

It's been reported several shots were fired by the suspect last night at an address Blubell area of West Dublin.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

This morning gardai received reports that the man had left a home in the same area and travelled in the direction of the nearby canal.

A large number of gardai including the Garda helicopter, dog unit and several armed units, are now scouring the area looking for the suspect.

The search is concentrated around Labre Park in west Dublin.

A source said: "This is a volatile situation. Shots were fired at a home last night and luckily nobody was injured.

"This man is now walking around the capital and it is believed he is carrying two firearms.

"He is armed and dangerous and members of the public should be very careful."
