Skeleton find is of woman

A skeleton discovered in a remote hilly area near Dublin is that of a woman, police said.

It will be next week before further test results are received but the remains could be those of one of 20 women who have been reported missing.

Gardai are awaiting the results of DNA and dental record comparisons to enable them to identify the body found at Killakee Mountain two days ago.

The discovery was made by a walker.

A post mortem examination was carried out this morning.

Gardai are keeping an open mind on the case and awaiting identification of the woman before deciding which way the investigation will progress.

Detectives hope to have some tests results by early next week.
