Artefacts including six bronze cannon and a cauldron have been raised from the wreck of a Spanish Armada galleon off the coast of Co Sligo.

The items are from La Juliana - one of three Armada ships shipwrecked off the coast at Streedagh in 1588. Winter storms over the past two years uncovered the treasure from the seabed and the cannon, a gun carriage wheel and cannon balls have now been recovered.

Archaeologist Finbar Moore said that the cannon were "in beautiful condition". La Juliana was a Catalan ship, built near Barcelona and commandeered for the Armada.
