Specialist software firm SL Controls to take on 40 new engineers

Forty jobs are to be created at a specialist software company based in Sligo.

SL Controls said the engineer roles will be highly-skilled and take its workforce to more than 100.

Set up in 2002, the company has offices in Sligo, Galway, Limerick, Dublin and Birmingham.

It develops software to track medicines and medical devices which is being used in a crackdown on counterfeit drugs.

Managing director Keith Moran said the latest recruitment drive will help expand its regional offices with more specialist software engineers based directly in those areas.

"This significant boost to our workforce will allow us to grow further into Europe, the US and other markets as well as continue to support our existing clients," he said.

"It is important to us to hire only full-time engineers as this creates clear career paths for our employees as well as stability for our customers."
