Stop painting animals plea

Published 04/06/2012 | 00:00

An appeal has been issued to farmers not to lose the run of themselves and start painting animals if the Republic of Ireland do well in Euro 2012.

Traditionally the GAA season is littered with animals displaying their local club and county colours as owners strive to make their allegiance known.

But Margaret O'Sullivan of the Galway Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said: "Animals have rights and animals have dignity. While it is understandable why people would want to paint their animals, it is cruel."
