Two held over fatal house attack

Two men have been arrested over an attack at a house which left one man dead and another seriously injured.

A man in his 30s was found dead along with the injured man in the rented house in the Graigeowen area of Tullow, Co Carlow, shortly after 9am today, gardai said.

The arrests were made several hours later and t hey were taken to Carlow Garda Station where they were being detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

Investigating gardai appealed for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed an incident at the house to contact officers in Tullow station.

The scene where the dead man was found, a quiet estate on the edge of the town, was preserved for several hours to allow for a Garda forensic and technical examination

The injured man was being treated at St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.

It is understood the two men are from Eastern Europe.
