Two killed in double road accidents

Two people have been killed in separate road accidents over the past 24 hours.

A 26-year-old man died when the car he was driving collided with a tour bus in Co Wicklow on Friday.

He was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The accident happened at Ballymacrow Hill, Ashford,at about 3pm.

No one on the bus was hurt, but a woman passenger travelling in the car was treated in hospital for non life threatening injuries.

On Friday night a 43-year-old man died after a single vehicle smash in Co Louth.

It happened on the Inner Relief Road, Marshes Lower, Dundalk at about 9.30pm but was not discovered for several hours.

The victim, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

Gardai are appealing for information about both crashes.
