A teenager and a pensioner have been killed in separate road accidents in the last 24 hours.

Gardai said an 82-year-old woman was crossing the N20 at Ballynabanouge, Croom, Co Limerick, at about 7.15pm last night when she was struck by a car and died.

In the second crash, a 19-year-old man was killed when the car in which he was a passenger struck a wall on the R368 near Four Mile House in Co Roscommon at about 8pm last night.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other men, all believed to be in their 20s, who were in the car were taken to hospitals in Galway, Sligo and Mullingar.

Gardai are investigating both accidents and appealed for witnesses.
