Two lorry drivers killed in crash on N2 in Co Monaghan

Two truck drivers have been killed in a road accident.

Gardai said the lorries collided on the N2 between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney in Co Monaghan at about 6am.

The two men died at the scene, with one body taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and the other remaining at the crash site for several hours.

Gardai said the men were travelling alone in their trucks at the time of the accident.

The stretch of the N2 was closed for several hours to allow for f orensic collision investigators to analyse the scene.
