Two men held after 1.2m euro cannabis factory raided

Two men have been arrested after a massive cannabis-growing operation was raided by gardai in Donegal.

Eight hundred plants and 30 kilos of cannabis herb worth a total of 1.2 million euro were recovered in the raid on a building in Carrickboy, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal.

Garda said two men aged 40 and 41 were arrested at the scene.

They are being held at Ballyshannon Garda Station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, and they can be detained without charge for up to seven days.

The searches were carried out on Thursday afternoon.

Officers from Ballyshannon and Bundoran supported by the Garda's armed regional support unit were involved in the operation.
