Detectives are questioning two suspects about the killing of a man in a gun attack.

The 35-year-old victim was shot a number of times at Kiltalown Road, in Tallaght, south Dublin around 10.35pm last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene where the man was given medical treatment before being rushed to nearby Tallaght Hospital.

He died later from his wounds.

Gardai responding to the incident arrested two men - aged 28 and 18 - in connection with an incident close to the shooting scene, during which a car was being set ablaze.

"They are being detained at Tallaght Garda station under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended," said a Garda spokesman.

"The scenes of the shooting and a car found burning close to the scene are being preserved for a technical examination."

A post-mortem examination is expected to be held later today on the man's body.

Investigators have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them in Tallaght.
