Vandals target Rising remembrance wall
A memorial listing the names of those who died during the Easter Rising has been vandalised.
Paint was thrown at the Necrology Wall at Dublin's Glasnevin Cemetery, a memorial unveiled as part of the 1916 centenary commemorations.
The Glasnevin Trust said: "This was an act of callous vandalism."
The attack happened overnight on Saturday or in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The organisation said it was working with gardai.
The names of the 488 dead, including rebels and civilians, alongside members of the British Army, Dublin Metropolitan Police and Royal Irish Constabulary, are engraved on the wall.
It was unveiled a year ago as an act of remembrance.
Gardai at Mountjoy confirmed the matter had been reported to them and an investigation is ongoing.
No arrests had been made by yesterday evening.
