A 70-year-old woman died in a house fire in south Dublin

A 70-year-old woman has been killed in a house fire in Dublin.

The blaze took hold at a property on St Malpas Place, off Clanbrassil Street in the south of the city.

Gardai were alerted to the fire at around 7am today.

Emergency services brought the woman from the house but she was declared dead later at St James Hospital.

No one else was in the house at the time.

At this stage, gardai do not believe the fire was suspicious.
