Woman dies after being struck by car in Dublin

One woman was killed and another was seriously injured after being struck by a car while walking in Dublin.

The pair, in their 40s, were hit by the car on Hartstown Road at about 2.40am this morning, gardai said.

They were taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital at Blanchardstown.

One of the women was later pronounced dead, while the second remains in a serious condition.

The occupants of the car were uninjured during the collision. The scene was sealed off for a forensic examination and diversions put in place. Gardai at Blanchardstown Garda station have appealed for witnesses.
