Woman held over party death freed

A woman arrested in connection with the murder of a mother-of-one has been released without charge.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested following the discovery of the body of Brigid Bernadette Cash on Thursday.

The victim's body was found with suspected head injuries in the sitting room of her mother's home in a housing estate in Mulhuddart, west Dublin, after a party.

Ms Cash, 20, was a married member of the Travelling community and had a two-year-old son.

Detectives investigating her death have appealed for anyone who was at a party in the property on Warrenstown Walk to come forward.

The alarm was raised on Thursday morning after paramedics made the grim discovery at the address.

The victim's mother, also called Brigid, is a tenant in the rented semi-detached house but was not home at the time and her grandmother was caring for her son.

Gardai investigating the murder had detained the suspect at Blanchardstown Garda Station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

She was released from the station earlier this morning.
