Worker crushed at recycling plant
A man was crushed to death during an accident at a recycling plant in Dublin.
The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation after the 41-year-old died at the Greenstar Recycling waste facility in Ballymount, at about 3pm.
It is understood the man, who was an employee at the plant, was crushed by a forklift as he was loading or offloading fridge freezers and kitchen appliances from a trailer.
A post-mortem will be carried out at Tallaght Hospital.
Gardai said no one else was injured in the incident.
Greenstar Limited said operations were immediately suspended at the facility and a full internal investigation has been launched into the incident.
"Greenstar is co-operating fully with the Garda and Health and Safety Authority investigations," said a spokesman.
"The company expresses its sincere condolences to the deceased's family."
Gardai said they believe that up to four or five people tried to help the man at the scene as he lay injured.
They have appealed for those people, and anyone at the facility between 2.45 and 3.30pm, to contact investigators at Crumlin.
