Search on for 600 bands to play on Guinness Arthur’s Day

The search is on for up-and-coming local acts to be part of the Guinness Arthur’s Day line-up on September 23.

In a series of music events called Our Thursdays, 600 top bands from the Republic and Northern Ireland will be chosen play in 100 pubs every Thursday from mid-July through to early August.

Of these emerging Irish acts, 100 will get the opportunity to perform at various pub locations on Arthur’s Day.

From the 100 acts, three will be chosen to play in Galway, Cork and in Hopstore 13 at St James’s Gate Brewery on Arthur’s Day alongside international artists including Snow Patrol.

Snow Patrol’s lead singer Gary Lightbody said “Ireland has, and has always had, one of the best music scenes in the world, so we’re really excited about helping to find emerging bands to play around the country on the day, one of whom will play alongside us in Dublin.”

Arthur’s Day honours the legacy of Arthur Guinness, the pioneering brewer who introduced Guinness to the world.

Proceeds from all Arthur’s Day ticket sales will be donated to the Arthur Guinness Fund which supports social entrepreneurship in Ireland.
