The Church of Ireland Dean of Belfast, the Very Rev Dr Houston McKelvey, has paid a warm tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, at a special Evensong Service in St Anne's Cathedral.

In the presence of Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Romaine Carswell, and Royal representatives from other counties in Northern Ireland, the Dean said yesterday: "Every human being has his or her own particular shortcomings, but I encourage you to look at what was good, noble and wholesome in the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.

"That she touched the lives of so many people is unquestionable, and beyond any media manipulation."

The Dean said that Diana had a particular rapport with children, and with groups advocating their needs.

Dean McKelvey was speaking two days after the marking of the tenth anniversary of Diana's tragic death.
