Published 05/08/2009

Two more families are in mourning today after separate road collisions claimed the lives of a man and woman and left another person fighting for her life.

A man died as a result of an accident involving a motorcycle on the Causeway Road near Bushmills at about 5.30pm yesterday. It is believed he was pronounced dead at the scene. His pillion passenger, a woman, was critically injured and taken to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine where her condition was described as “critical”.

Meanwhile, another woman was killed and a number of people were injured in a collision at the junction of Tamnamore roundabout and Ballymakilly Road in Dungannon. The accident occurred at 6pm.

Police had not disclosed the identity of either victim last night.
